Vanishing bird cage
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
The vanishing bird cage is a classic close-up magic effect that was invented by French magician Buatier De Kolta. The trick has also been used by magicians Carl Hertz, Harry Blackstone and John Mulholland.
The magician holds a bird cage between both hands. The cage is rectangular, about six inches tall by six inches wide by eight inches long, and made of wire on all six sides. Often there is a bird inside the cage which is usually fake. The magician will offer the cage for inspection by an audience member, but he will never actually release his grip of it. Then, without covering the cage, the magician makes a sudden motion and the cage (and anything inside) vanishes from sight.

Before you present a trick, an important thing to remember is to make sure that you have practised your effect and presentation and, to the most extent, are positive in your presentation.Good magicians all recognise that their main business is to entertain. So as you apply your effect, show it up with a story or a laugh. And when your presentation is skillful, it often distracts the audience from trying to puzzle out the secret.
