Multiplying billiard balls
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Multiplying billiard balls is a close-up magic routine that dates from the mid-1800s. The effect is widely considered a classic magic trick and is very popular with both amateur and advanced conjurors. As its name implies, the magician uses sleight of hand to manipulate a number of billiard balls (the balls are often smaller than actual billiard balls), giving the impression that he is making them appear and vanish at his command. French magician Buatier De Kolta is credited for popularizing the effect.
In presentation, the magician will hold a single ball in his hand. The ball suddenly becomes two balls, in plain view of the audience. He then proceeds to produce a third and fourth ball, all in the same hand. The magician will then vanish the balls, one at a time, until only one remains. Often, part of the routine involves the magician giving the impression that he his "passing" the balls through his body, in and out of his mouth, fingertips, and pockets.

Before you play a trick, remember to make sure that you have practiced your effect and presentation and, at your best, are positive in your presentation.Good magicians all know that their main business is to entertain. So as you apply your effect, present it up with a story or a gag. And when your presentation is skillful, it often distracts the audience from trying to figure out the magic trick.
